POSITION SUMMARY

The Cloud Engineer will play an instrumental role in delivering CIQ’s Performance Intensive Computing (PIC) solution to enterprise cloud customers. As a Cloud Engineer, you will work with CIQ’s PIC Engineering team to architect, implement, and maintain the network, compute, and storage infrastructure to support the company’s cloud-based/SaaS PIC solution. Your responsibilities will also include ensuring the security, stability, and performance of our cloud solution. This role requires a deep technical depth of performance computing and a comprehensive breadth of cloud environments and infrastructure technologies. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Providing subject matter expertise on cloud architecture and SaaS application development.

  • Contributing or participating in architecture-level discussions, planning, and implementation.

  • Researching to ensure what we are building is always the best path forward.

  • Documenting each project to share knowledge and facilitate integration for users.

  • Developing proof of concepts and minimal viable products for demonstration.

  • Supporting multiple services before they go live through activities such as developing software platforms and frameworks, capacity planning, and launch reviews.

  • Improving products by collaborating with Engineering teams, Product teams, Sales teams, and open-source communities (as needed) on optimal and relevant solutions while sharing knowledge.

  • Working closely with cross-functional teams to support product deliverables and business objectives.

  • Identifying opportunities to optimize performance and reduce costs across the infrastructure landscape.

Job requirements

NEEDED TO SUCCEED

Successful candidates will have:

  • Expertise in performance computing, cloud architecture, containers, and delivering high-quality products to maximize CIQ’s capability to meet the business and technical requirements of our customers running in the cloud.

  • A deep familiarity with Cloud and Cloud-Native Principles.

  • The ability to troubleshoot and improve applications and processes, analyze current code and industry developments to develop engineering solutions to solve problems, and create seamless user experiences.

  • A proven track record of working on a geographically distributed team and delivering products that customers love on ambitious timelines.

  • Proficiency in managing and maintaining compute environments, including virtualization and containerization.

  • A friendly, collaborative, humble, honest, and always striving to be better attitude.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • BS/BA in Computer Science or related

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in AWS, Azure, or GCP

  • At least one certification from a major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP)

  • Direct hands-on experience leading the design, development, and deployment of cloud solutions at scale or current hands-on technology infrastructure, network, compute, storage, and virtualization experience.
