POSITION SUMMARY

As a Linux Software Engineering Manager, you will plan, initiate, and manage projects and leverage the team’s abilities to their fullest potential. You will lead a team of engineers and serve as a liaison between the business and technical aspects of projects. You use creative problem-solving to help the team come up with innovative solutions. You will demonstrate technical leadership with an understanding of building Linux images, writing/maintaining RMP spec files, by improving approaches to detecting vulnerabilities in RPM packages, and by implementing fixes across packages. You will also demonstrate an understanding of the tooling to support RPM-based Linux distributions. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Supporting the team's growth by providing mentorship and facilitating performance management.

  • Participating in the recruiting and hiring process.

  • Guiding the team through complex problems and eliminating blockers.

  • Managing the software development lifecycle and tracking the milestones and deliverables.

  • Identifying and working to improve processes.

  • Researching current vulnerabilities in RPM packages and implementing fixes across multiple variants of the package.

  • Assessing inefficiencies in the vulnerability remediation process for discussion.

  • Submitting project deliverables and ensuring adherence to quality standards.

  • Identifying inefficiencies or bottlenecks and taking steps to reduce or eliminate them.

  • Collaborating with stakeholders across the company to understand needs, priorities, and requirements, ensuring the solutions developed are designed to meet those needs.

  • Ensuring effective support for on-call or escalated issues and that customer SLAs are met.

  • Staying up to date on industry trends and technologies and implementing them into processes when appropriate.

Familiarity with programming languages and other tools/technologies within engineering. The ability to pivot to new challenges in a fast-paced startup environment. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field is required. Proven work experience in technical roles such as software engineering and technical management. Experience working cross-functionally across an organization. A background in software, technology, SaaS, or a related field. Experience with the open-source community is preferred.
